Kindness & Goodwill

When your spouse tells you about something that makes them happy, how do your tend to react?

"Oh. That's nice. Did you remember to pay the electric bill?."

"Wow, that's great news! Tell me more about it!"

When you are angry with your spouse, how do you tend to react?

"You always do that! You're such a jerk! You obviously only care about yourself!"

"What you did hurt me and made me feel as if you don't care about my needs."

How you react to your spouse can be a good indication of the state of the relationship. It can signify whether things are going well, or if there are issues that need to be addressed.

The ability to have goodwill toward your partner and to react with kindness, even when frustrated or angry is the hallmark of a healthy, happy relationship. If these are things that do not seem to come easily in your relationship, consider couple's therapy to help get things back on track.
